Hotel in Garfagnana

The Lake of Vagli, situated in the commune of in the province of Lucca, is an artificial lake that was formed by the barrage of the Edron river in 1947 by SELT Valdarno (today ENEL s.p.a.). In 1948 works were carried out on the dam with subsequent rising of the water level up to 92 meters.
The raising of the water level of the lake caused the submersion of several hamlets, amongst which the main one, Fabbriche di Careggine, once populated by blacksmiths from Brescia. The remains of the village re-emerge from the waters every time the lake is emptied.
